Gunsel Pehlivan

Hello, Gunsel Pehlivan here. I’m a Turkish - American NYC based director. For me, directing is all about connecting with people and having them trust in me enough to open up and shine on camera. It’s about being curious and asking the right questions to take a glimpse into a world that I want to explore and showcase. 

For almost a decade, I have been acquiring the skills to be able to put together the puzzle that is film production. My past experience as an editor and director of photography gives me a better vision of what I need to capture as a director on set, and directly impacts the way I communicate with my team through all stages of production. 

I have developed and directed hundreds of productions for industry leaders — including Conde Nast, Time Inc., Pfizer, Nestlé, AMC Networks, etc — but also for friends, independent artists, nonprofits, and your local mom and pop shops. At the end of the day, it’s not about who you make it for, it’s about going into every project with the same passion and enthusiasm that you did your last.
